Amie was a beautiful lady who worked as a waitress where my friend and fellow photographer Jack Yonn, often had lunch. This shot was done as a demo in a portrait class. Canon 20D Digital
Brooke is part Sioux, part Crow, and a powerful lady. She is a holsitic teacher and healer devoted to getting people in touch with the earth. I have known her since college where I was madly in love with her. Bronica C 6x6
This was shot as part of the Tewa project. Carlos was destined to be one of the legendary potters from San Ildefonso. Related to the famous Maria Martinez, he developed a special "brown on brown" technique. He was tragically killed in a car crash. Bronica C 6x6
Carmen was the sister of reknown flamenco guitarist Rene Heredia. What a vivacious and beautiful lady she was! As happens too often to great talent she died far too young. Bronica C 6x6
Cathy Smith was a Special Ed teacher, photographer. and a very elegant and beautiful lady. I shot this in the main hall of the castle home of a friend of mine who lived south of Denver. Burke and James 4x5.
Cleo is a world famous dancer and choreographer. This shot, taken in her studio, was part of a series taken for the Colorado Celebraton of the Arts. Burke and James 4x5
Dana Crawford was the primary force behind the Larimer Street redevelopment in lower downtown Denver. A powerful and dynamic lady she was a dream to work with for this photograph taken in one of the buildings under renovation, Burke and James 4x5
Desideria was a sister of Maria Martinez, the San Ildefonso potter. A potter herself, Desideria was in her 90s when I took this photograph of her sitting in her doorway. Grundlach 8x10
Don and I have been friends since the late 1960s when we rode motorcycles together in Boston. A brillian design engineer he is one of those magicians who designs the machines that make things. Bronica GS1 6x7
I have known Donna since the early 1970s. Today she is an accomplished photographer and teacher of photography at Palomar College. This shot was taken on one of her workshops where she graciously invited me to come along. It was on this trip that she introduced me to the Alabama Hills that has its own gallery elsewhere on my site. In fact this shot was taken in the corral on Tuttle creek which you can see in those shots. Bronica GS1 6x7
Ed was the director of the Germinal Stage in Denver. An award winning actor and talented director his productions were among the best in town. This was shot for the Colorado Celebration of the Arts Collection. Burke and James 4x5
Fred was one of my favorite students. He redfined enthusiasm and worked extremely hard to develop his skill, yet he was one of the most outgoing, friendly, jovial people I've ever known. Bronica C 6x6
Gage was instrumental in getting the Tewa collection to be purchased by the National Park Service. A doctor of anthropology he is heavily into the mountain man era and frequently gives talks and workshops on their history and skills. This was taken in his back yard in Pine Valley. CA. Canon 20D Digital
This was shot during a photo session with another photographer who was photographing Gary's church. Gary was sitting at the piano playing while we were there and this obvious shot presented itself. Who am I to turn it down? Fuji S2 Digital
Geru Greeves, a beautiful and petite Kiowa lady posed for this shot in Bill Duncan's log cabin. She is wearing a Bannock-Shoshone dress and collar of shells. Years later I came across Edward Curtis's shot of a Hidatsa lady in a nearly identical dress. Burke and James 4x5
H. Hadley Batchelder was my law professor in law school in the early 70s. Quick of wit and quip he still is one of my favorite people. We have had a wonderful running debate for the past few years and I look forward to every meeting. Bronica GS1 6x7
Jamie was a model brought along on a workshop to the desert. I normally do not intrude but I saw this shot as reminiscent of an Italian Rennaisance portrait and could not resist doing an homage to Botticelli. So I "borrowed" her for a few moments and made this shot. Nikon e8700 Digital
Another subject photographed for the Colorado Celebration of the Arts, LaRae was the first president of the Women's Bank in Denver. Burke and James 4x5
Laura is a local TV personality and a professor in the RTV program at City College. Canon 20D Digital
Lauren was a student in photography. I asked if she would pose for a portrait to allow me to test a new lens and this was the result. Bronica C 6x6
Dr. Ascione is the current (2007) interim Dean of the Arts and Humanities school at City College. He is singularly one of the most intense individuals I've ever known. He agreed to pose for a demo in a portrait class and came dressed casually. But even with jeans and sweat-shirt, his intensity cannot be subdued. Canon 5D Digital
I met Louis in the Taos Pueblo. He agreed to let me photograph him and proceded to charm us with stories and tales of his younger days leading artists up the sacred mountain during the heydays of the "Taos School" of art. Burke and James 4x5
Lucien was the CEO of Baldwin International. While we were setting up for this portrait in his living room he enchanted us with tales of the development of the piano. He was so comfortable and at home with himself and us it seemed like the best way to do the portrait. Burke and James 4x5
Luna showed up at a fashion shoot set up by a local photographer I had agreed to help. When he was done I asked to do some for myself because I saw this smoldering set of eyes that nearly made my camera sweat. Fuji S2 Digital
Marty Kove is trapped in the roles of bad guys, but he is a talented, funny guy who just loves westerns. After doing some head/promo shots for him I asked him to pose in any way he would like - and this is it. It was shot in his dinning room. Bronica C 6x6
If there were any justice Jim Neely ought to be famous. He and five or six other Anglo silversmiths virtually brought the art of Indian style silversmithing back from obscurity in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I wear one of his bracelets today. Bronica C 6x6
Carla Pritchett was an extremely talented photographer and student. She actually saved my life on a photo workshop. But there was an abiding sadness about her that seems to permeate this photograph. Burke and James 4x5
Rene was considered to be one of the top five or six flamenco guitarists in the world. To listen and watch him play you would swear he had more than the normal allotment of fingers on each hand. Bronica C 6x6
Paul and I have been friends since the early 1970s when we were working together at the San Diego Photographers Workshop. Retired from being a Photo professor at City College, he now he is seriously into golf and even makes custom golf clubs for select and fortunate players. Bronica C 6x6
Bill Duncan and I were once as close as brothers. His was a prodigious talent that included sculpture, painting, music, the works. This shot was taken of him while he was working on an oil painting of Mount Evans. Bronica C 6x6
Winston was the Dean of the Arts and Humanities school at City College when I was hired. A former theater major, he was a facinating subject when he agreed to come pose as a demo for a class. Canon 20D Digital
